In the 1930s, researchers at Scott Agricultural Laboratories outside Nairobi selected coffee plants for drought resistance. One selection, SL28, turned out to be one of the finest-tasting coffees ever chosen. SL34 came from the same programme; Ruiru 11 and Batian answered disease decades later. All four are in this cup. And a small gift at this stop: AA is not a quality grade. It is a screen size — how wide the bean is. Nothing more.
